Position: Technical Services Manager
Reports to: Library Director
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly responsible and organized Technical Services Librarian to manage the Technical Services Department. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the department, including the acquisition, classification, and processing of library materials, as well as supervising staff. The Technical Services Librarian will work under the direction of the Library Director, with ample opportunity for independent decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the library’s Technical Services Department.
Supervise and train technical services staff, including the Assistant Technical Services Manager and Technical Services Assistant.
Maintain current knowledge of bibliographic access and control principles.
Oversee development of the adult book, recorded book, and periodicals collections.
Curate and maintain the genealogy and local history collections.
Coordinate acquisition of memorial and donated items.
Provide direct patron service at circulation and reference desks.
Manage money-related transactions, including copies, fines, and other payments.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Director.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of standard library practices, including the Dewey Decimal Classification System and MARC format.
Familiarity with cataloging tools, computer systems, and online reference resources.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and establish procedures, as well as train and supervise staff.
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to establish effective relationships with staff and the public.
Capacity to work under pressure in public-facing roles.
Professional appearance and social maturity.
Availability for evening and Saturday shifts.
Willingness to participate in continuing education opportunities.
Education Requirements:
Library Certification 5 (60 hours of college or associate degree, plus 9 semester hours of required library science courses) or significant progress toward certification.
Compensation and Benefits:
Full-time salaried position, with compensation ranging from $35,000-$47,000, based on experience and determined annually by the Board of Trustees.

Physical Requirements:
Reach up to 80 inches in height, stoop to 12 inches from floor level.
